History
The Kirksville community has provided recreational and educational swimming opportunities for the Northeast Missouri region since the mid 1950’s. In the 1990’s, the citizens of Kirksville approved comprehensive renovations of the old municipal pool facility. The current Aquatic Center facility opened on June 19, 1999, and provides a variety of recreational opportunities and aquatic therapeutic services. The ability to offer an expanded line-up of programs has increased the level of participation, not only from local residents but from residents throughout the northeast Missouri region. The new aquatic center has greatly enhanced recreation/leisure services available in the area.

Mission
Expand on the initial success of the outdoor season by developing and implementing a comprehensive program of activities at the Kirksville Aquatic Center that will enhance the quality of life for community members, which in turn will expand the market area to include all ages in northern Missouri and southern Iowa and beyond. Continue the long history of quality recreational aquatic activities for the residents of Kirksville and the surrounding area that enhance the quality of life for the citizens, while expanding the market area to include all of north Missouri and southern Iowa to increase the number of visitors to our community.
