CITY OF KIRKSVILLE INTERACTIVE ZONING MAP
Downloading and Implementing the City Zoning Map
You will need to download two free programs in order to open the interactive Zoning Map: WinZip and ArcReader 9.1 (Windows XP and perhaps some other operating systems have software built in to decompress the file or you may already have WinZip on your computer, if so skip to number 3)
Both of these software programs can be downloaded from the links on the following page: http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcreader/download.html
1. Download WinZip
· Click link for WinZip (http://www.winzip.com)
· Click ‘Try Now’ button
· Click ‘Download WinZip 10.0 Now’ on the lower part of the page
· Click ‘Save’ to a place that you can find on your computer
· Click ‘Close’ after the download is complete
2. Return to original link at: http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcreader/download.html
3. Download ArcReader 9.1
· Click ‘Download ArcReader 9.1’
** You must register if you are a first time user by clicking on the ‘register’ link in the lower part of the page. Fill in the information and follow instructions.
· Click ‘Save’ to a place that you can find on your computer
· Click ‘Close’ after the download is complete
4. You have now downloaded the required software. If you would like, return to the original link to download the ArcReader tutorials which can be opened in Adobe Reader (also a free software program). Once you have downloaded (saved) the ArcReader software you will only need to keep track of updating the zoning map file.
5. On your computer, find the files you downloaded for WinZip and ArcReader.
6. Double-click the .exe files and click ‘Run’ for one program and then the other
7. Download the Zoning Map file (Download Map Files) and ‘Save’ to a known location
8. Right-click on the Zoning Map file and choose ‘WinZip’> Extract to here
** The set of files that have been extracted MUST remain together and complete. You will not be able to open the map if you move or delete any of the files. Leave the files in the configuration that is left unzipped.
9. Open ArcReader
10. File>Open (choose the CKZoning….pmf file)
