Zoning Information
Like most cities, every property in the City of Kirksville has a zoning designation: residential; commercial; and industrial. Each of these three designations has subdivisions, and they are described in the City of Kirksville Zoning Ordinance (Appendix A). A Zoning Map of the City is available to help you determine how individual property is zoned.
Rezoning of a propertiy is possible, depending on the location of a property, and requires approval of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Kirksville City Council, and possibly a Public Hearing depending upon the zoning designation. Spot zoning of a property in the center of a standard zoned area is not desirable and would normally not be permitted. Rezoning Applications are required for any rezoning request.
