The Kirksville Arts Center will be open July 26-September 1 for the Civil War Traveling Exhibit.

  • 10AM-7PM Kirksville Arts Center open with Civil War Traveling Exhibit (not sure on time)
  • 3:30-5:30PM Adair County Historical Society Navigation Rally (starts at Fort Madison Cemetery) and ends at Brashear Cemetery
  • 5:30-7:30PM Brashear Cemetery Theatre featuring Civil War stories 
            Character Portrayals
    • George Jeff Conkle:  Taken prisoner the day after the 'Battle of Newark' (As told by his great-granddaughters)
    • William Platz: Son of a Revolutionary drummer boy, and a Union soldier (as told by his wife, Elizabeth Mitten, portrayed by great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Mills)
    • Bennett White Church  (As toldy by great-grandson, Kelley Church)
    • Timothy Cusick:  Irish immigrant (as told by Virginia Watson from family of desendants)
    • Adam Ralph Zentz:  Featured by Brashear Cemetery caretaker, Eddie Turner
    • Soldier-brothers, Canada and Henry Keller, and their friends, Jasper May and Emmet Selby:  Union soldiers killed at the Centralia Massacre - all with commemorative markers at nearby 'Keller/Tuttler Cemetery' (by a local surviver's eye witness account, as told by Raymond Magruder)
    • Walker Paul:  A Confederate sympathizer whose actions determined the fate of the 'Battle of Kirksville' (as told by local historian, Mike Wood)
    • Daniel McGonigle:  An Irish Catholic soldier, buried at nearby Adair's 'St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery' and of whom famous decendants derived (as told by Curtain CallTheater actress LaRoyce Allemang)
  • 7:00PM Summer on the Square Music
  • All Day Reenactor Registration at Rotary Park

  • 9:00AM Soldiers Drill
  • 10AM-Noon Living Histories available for walk throughs (include Medical Tent, blacksmith, etc), possible Ladies Tea
  • Noon Lunch available on the grounds
  • 1:00-2:00PM Battle Reenactment
  • 3:00-5:00PM Vintage Baseball Game (behind Centennial Hall!!!)
  • 4:30PM Sons of Confederate Veterans Memorial service (Forrest Llewellyn Cemetery)
  • 5:00-7:00PM Living Histories available
  • 6:00PM Supper available on the grounds
  • 7-9:00PM Dancing—NEMO Country Dancers and Civil War Ball
  • 9:00PM Night cannon fire
