CAPE AIR ANNOUNCED NEW AIR CARRIER FOR ESSENTIAL AIR SERVICE AT THE KIRKSVILLE REGIONAL AIRPORT
(Kirksville, Mo.) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has chosen Hyannis Air Service, Inc. dba Cape Air (Cape Air) as the new essential air service (EAS) provider for the Kirksville Regional Airport.
Cape Air will provide three daily non-stop roundtrip flights to and from the Lambert-Saint Louis Airport for a one-way fare of $49. DOT chose to switch carriers in preparation for the end of its contract with Kirksville’s current EAS, Air Choice One, which ends in late July. The date that Cape Air will begin operation in Kirksville is yet to be determined but an interruption in service is not expected.
Several key components in the selection of Cape Air were its online distribution systems and its ticketing and baggage agreements. The new service also has a code-share agreement with American Airlines at St. Louis, which will extend to the Kirksville-Saint Louis service.
Cape Air provides EAS in an increasing number of communities including Quincy, Ill., Marion, Ill., and Cape Girardeau, Mo. More information about Cape Air can be found on its Web site at www.flycapeair.com.
The Kirksville Regional Airport is a federally subsidized facility operated by the City of Kirksville. It is located four miles south of Kirksville on U.S. Highway 63. For information about the airport, visit www.kirksvillecity.com.
