SEPTEMBER 11 DESIGNATED EMERGENCY SERVICES DAY
(Kirksville, Mo.) -- The Federal and State Legislatures have designated certain dates of every year that honor and recognize those who have made sacrifices in order to safe guard our citizens, our beliefs, and way of life. Missouri State Statue 9.130 has designated September 11 of each year as “Emergency Services Day”, in honor of the many firefighter, police, emergency medical service, and military personnel and volunteers that have served or are currently serving to protect the freedom and safety of all citizens. In honor of this day of appreciation, citizens are asked to:
-
Devote some part of the day to recognizing their local public safety personnel;
-
Cooperate with police agencies in the reporting of crimes; and
-
Cooperate with fire agencies by checking their smoke detectors to assure that such detectors are functional.
“The volunteers and personnel of the City of Kirksville and the other communities in our area have truly, faithfully & diligently performed their duties and rendered invaluable services to our citizens and community”, said Mari Macomber, Kirksville City Manager, “and Emergency Services Day gives us a chance to take a moment to thank them for the many services they provide.”
