SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARED
DUE TO WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS
(Kirksville, MO) The Kirksville City Manager has declared a traffic emergency effective tomorrow, February 1, 2011, at 6:00 a.m. due to winter weather conditions. Citizens will be required to move their parked vehicles from any street designated an “emergency snow route” by 8:00 a.m.
All vehicles parked on emergency snow routes shall be removed within two (2) hours after notice of a traffic emergency has been given. Any vehicle parked on an emergency snow route after such period of time may be removed or caused to be removed by a police officer to a place of safety, and the vehicle may not be recovered until the towing and storage charges are paid by the person claiming the vehicle.
In addition, officials with the Kirksville/Adair County Local Emergency Planning Committee are recommending that citizens consider cancelling all non-essential activities for Tuesday, February 1, and Wednesday, February 2. The National Weather Service is forecasting blizzard-like conditions for all of Northern Missouri and conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly once the heavy snowfall begins.
City officials are recommending citizens in the downtown area use the public parking lot on the corner of Missouri and Main.
