SNOW EMERGENCY UPDATE
(Kirksville, MO) The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will activate the Emergency Operations Center for Kirksville and Adair County at noon today, Tuesday, February 1. After 12 p.m., the general public can call the Emergency Operations Center at 660-665-2003 with any non-emergency questions and/or concerns. If you need emergency assistance, please call 911.
The LEPC is asking the public to stay at home, if at all possible, and do not drive unless it is necessary. Road conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly due to the cold temperatures and blowing snow.
In addition, the Adair County Commission has advised the LEPC that the road and bridge crews will not blade county roads until the snow and wind from the impending storm have subsided. If roads are bladed before the storm is over, they will drift shut again making reopening the roads very difficult. The LEPC has plans in place to handle emergency calls for both Kirksville and Adair County. If an emergency arises, please call 911 for assistance.
Citizens are also asked to remember that a Snow Emergency has been declared for Kirksville and will remain in effect until further notice. During a snow emergency, no parking is allowed along the designated snow routes and any vehicles parked along these routes may be removed or caused to be removed by a police officer to a place of safety, and the vehicle may not be recovered until the towing and storage charges are paid by the person claiming the vehicle.
