In order to provide the best services to the residents of Kirksville, the Fire Department strives towards using education, planning, prevention, incident mitigation, and the application of technology and safety practices into daily practices.
By providing educational services to the Kirksville school system grades k-12, senior groups, service clubs, community organizations and Truman State University students, the Kirksville Fire Department hopes to develop citizens with excellent fire safety awareness. The Fire Department works tirelessly to serve the community by keeping citizens safe and secure when it comes to fire safety.

Police
The mission of the Kirksville Police Department is to
provide excellence in policing while partnering with the community. By
establishing strong community partnerships, the Police Department is proud to
promote the values of respect, integrity, service, teamwork, and problem solving
while providing the best law enforcement for the citizens of the
community.
The Police Department provides a number of services to the
community in order to keep Kirksville residents safe. For
more than 150 years, the Kirksville Police Department has employed dedicated men
and women to provide protection services for the community. Today, 25 full time
officers offer around the clock safety and oversight for Kirksville residents,
so you can rest easy knowing the Police Department will always provide
proactive and uncompromising support!

Services are provided to every member of Kirksville that may find themselves in an emergency or non-emergency situation. Police, Fire, and E-911 all work together to ensure citizens of Kirksville feel safe and well taken care of in case of these situations.
It is the mission of the Kirksville/Adair County E-911 Joint Communications Center to answer all emergency and non-emergency calls in a prompt and courteous manner. Trained operators dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical response units in an efficient and professional manner in order to help save lives, protect property, and assist the public in making safer communities.
