4/7/2015 - Airport Land Lease

The City of Kirksville, Missouri will accept sealed bids to lease 55 acres (+/-) of farmable ground south of the Kirksville Regional Airport  at the office of the City Clerk, 201 S. Franklin, Kirksville, MO 63501-3580, until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.  The property is location on Oklahoma Trail outside the airport fenced area and contains approach lights to the airport.  The leased property will be used solely for cultivating and grown crops.  The property was farmed last year in soy beans.  This will be a three (3) year lease with the option to renew.  The lessee agrees to disc and fertilize the property at lease once during each three (3) year lease period.  Minimum bid accepted will be $150 an acre.  The winning bidder will sign a lease agreement and make payments in full prior to farming the land.  All bids to City of Kirksville, City Clerk, 201 S. Franklin, Kirksville, MO 63501 in a sealed envelope clearly marked "Airport Land Lease."

Insurance requirement:  Adequate insurance coverage in the amount of $500,000 is required to protect against personal injury and property damage. 

The City of Kirksville is to be included as an Additional Insured on both the Comprehensive General and Business Auto Liability.  Proof to be provided with the actual endorsement page and insurance certificate.  Current valid insurance policies meeting the requirement herein identified shall be maintained during the duration of the name lease/project.  Insurance renewal certificates or cancellation notices shall be sent to the City 30 days prior to any expiration date.

Based on local markets, the lease payment may be raised after three (3) years not to exceed a 10% increase.  If property lease prices remain stable, the bid amount will stay the same.
